At the heart of the matter was new work by 100 artists from around the country. All artists were sent a 4" square box to create their heart interpretations. "Building on the theme, the artists were asked to reflect on experiences close to their hearts," according to Mary Lou Zeek. Maggie Yowell Hall created "Spirit Nests in the Heart" for the show using a bird's nest, fabric, ribbons, beads, an old shoe string, and a dried rose.
